{"id":9863,"date":"2022-08-25T18:01:37","date_gmt":"2022-08-25T21:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/sin-categorizar\/outreach-conference-on-the-construction-of-the-central-railroad\/"},"modified":"2023-05-04T15:24:47","modified_gmt":"2023-05-04T18:24:47","slug":"outreach-conference-on-the-construction-of-the-central-railroad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/en\/news\/outreach-conference-on-the-construction-of-the-central-railroad\/","title":{"rendered":"Outreach Conference on the construction of the Central Railroad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>On August 17, the National Academy of Engineering of Uruguay (ANIU) organized a conference on the construction of the Central Railway, the most important infrastructure project for railway transportation in recent years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Representatives of the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) and the Consorcio Constructor del Ferrocarril Central presented general and specific aspects of this important project.<\/p>\n<h4>The project<\/h4>\n<p>The \u201cFerrocarril Central\u201d project comprises the construction and maintenance of 273 km of railroad tracks between the Port of Montevideo and the city of Paso de los Toros, bringing them to a higher standard that will allow the circulation of freight trains at 80 km\/h and 22.5 tons per axle, according to the MTOP on its website.<\/p>\n<p>It includes an initial 26 km section of double track, a dozen secondary tracks for train crossings, a section of track for industrial access, and more than 40 rail bridges to be reinforced or new ones to be built.<\/p>\n<p>The project is an important step in the framework of the transportation infrastructure program that the country is developing to strengthen its logistics platform, due to its complementarity with the truck and port system, and its influence on the territory as a factor for the viability of productive enterprises, due to its greater competitiveness and sustainability.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 56.25% 0 0 0; position: relative;\"><iframe style=\"position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/743587352?h=6e8126e346&title=0&byline=0&portrait=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/api\/player.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Program of the event developed<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Dimensions of the project and MTOP\u2019s roles<\/li>\n<li>Eng.
