{"id":12021,"date":"2026-03-19T15:23:56","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T18:23:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aniu.org.uy\/sin-categorizar\/presentation-of-the-rosario-pou-award-for-innovation-in-the-forestry-chain-2025\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T12:22:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T15:22:13","slug":"presentation-of-the-rosario-pou-award-for-innovation-in-the-forestry-chain-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/en\/news\/presentation-of-the-rosario-pou-award-for-innovation-in-the-forestry-chain-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation of the Rosario Pou Award for Innovation in the Forestry Chain 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Academy of Engineering of Uruguay (ANIU) held the award ceremony of the <strong>Rosario Pou Award for Innovation in the Forestry Chain 2025<\/strong>, corresponding to the fourth edition of this recognition, which distinguishes innovative initiatives with an impact on the forestry sector.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The activity took place on March 17, 2026 at the Montevideo Golf Club, with the presence of authorities, ANIU members and representatives of public and private universities.<\/p>\n<p>The Rosario Pou Award aims to <strong>recognize and stimulate the development of innovative initiatives<\/strong> linked to the forestry chain, promoting the incorporation of knowledge, the generation of value and the application of new solutions in a strategic sector for the country.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12029\" src=\"https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/premio-rosario-pou-2025.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/premio-rosario-pou-2025.jpg 768w, https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/premio-rosario-pou-2025-390x220.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In line with this purpose, the call for proposals contemplates proposals related to <strong>different links in the<\/strong> forestry production <strong>chain<\/strong>, including production activities, industrial processes, logistics, transportation, storage and traceability, among other areas.<\/p>\n<h2>Six projects nominated<\/h2>\n<p>In this edition <strong>, six projects were submitted<\/strong> and evaluated by an Evaluation Committee made up of Eng. Norberto Casella, Eng.   Juan Pedro Posse.<\/p>\n<p>During the evaluation process, special consideration was given to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the knowledge incorporated in each proposal,<\/li>\n<li>its degree of originality,<\/li>\n<li>its implementation and<\/li>\n<li>the value generated from innovation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Winning project<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>first prize<\/strong> was awarded to the project \u201c<strong>Frost Mapping for Forestry Planning<\/strong>\u201c, developed by the startup <a href=\"https:\/\/theclimatebox.com\">The Climate Box<\/a> together with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montesdelplata.com.uy\">Montes del Plata<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The venture, led by <strong>Rafael Terra, Gabriel Usera and Pedro Mastr\u00e1ngelo<\/strong>, partnered with the forestry company to mitigate the risk of frost in 200,000 hectares of eucalyptus forest, using microclimatic measurements and numerical fluid modeling.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12014\" src=\"https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/concurso-rosario-pou-innovacion-forestal.jpg\" alt=\"Rosario Pou Award for Innovation in the Forestry Chain 2025\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/concurso-rosario-pou-innovacion-forestal.jpg 768w, https:\/\/2022.aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/concurso-rosario-pou-innovacion-forestal-390x220.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the ceremony, the academic Norberto Casella emphasized that the project was distinguished for <strong>simultaneously integrating different<\/strong> engineering <strong>disciplines<\/strong>, in a particularly valuable articulation from the technical point of view.<\/p>\n<p>He also highlighted the <strong>level of knowledge incorporated<\/strong> and noted its potential to generate <strong>significant impact<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Special mention<\/h2>\n<p>The Evaluation Committee also decided to award a special mention to the following company  <strong>Eng.
