The National Academy of Engineering (ANIU) is calling for papers interested in participating in the second edition of the Rosario Pou Award for Innovation in the Forestry Chain.<\/p>\n
The objective of this award, established by mutual agreement between ANIU and a foreign sponsor that finances it, is to stimulate the implementation of innovation activities with an impact on the areas related to the forestry production chain in the country.<\/p>\n
In this way, it aims to recognize individuals and\/or groups of people who act individually or in the framework of a public or private institution in activities that introduce or have introduced originality, value generation, improvement of processes and services, alternative use of resources and the use of new practices and technologies that contemplate aspects of Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n
The deadline for submission of papers is September 29, 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The jury will decide by December 15, and the award will be presented in March 2024.<\/p>\n Inquiries and submission of documentation: acadinguy@gmail.com<\/strong><\/p>\n Rosario Pou Ferrari graduated as a Forestry Agronomist in 1975. She has an extensive career, which includes her teaching activity at the Faculty of Agronomy, her role as National Deputy Director of Energy at the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining, and her activity as a consultant for international organizations and national companies such as Comurex, which carried out the first export of wood to Finland.<\/p>\n Between 1990 and 1995 she was hired by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as national director of the UNDP-FAO Project \u201cSupport to Forestry Development\u201d, institutionally strengthening the National Forestry Directorate and its activities inside and outside the country, articulating with the competent authorities the different aspects to be taken into account to apply the 1987 Forestry Law, and implementing the National Forestry Plan.<\/p>\n He held various positions in the private sector, in different companies of the Ence Group in Uruguay, in forestry, management and social aspects. In 2006, she ended her tenure as Vice President of Ence for the Americas.
